Annual powwow, salmon bake set at Oregon State University

A salmon bake, comedy performance and powwow will be held to celebrate Oregon State University’s indigenous community next week. 

On Friday, May 17, the 21st annual Salmon Bake takes place at noon at the Native American Longhouse Eena Haws, 311 S.W. 26th St., on the Corvallis campus. The menu includes salmon cooked over an open fire, potatoes, cornbread, blueberry wojapi and kale salad.


Guests can line up by the rear entrance of the Longhouse gathering hall as early as they would like. Serving starts at noon and occurs until the food runs out. The salmon bake is free and open to the public.

On Friday night at 7 p.m., the indigenous comedy group, the 1491s, will perform in Gill Coliseum. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are necessary. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Finally on Saturday, May 18, the 43rd annual Klatow Eena Powwow takes place from noon to 11 p.m. at Gill Coliseum. The event features dancers, singers and vendors. Doors open at noon.
