According to the academy’s website, “The NAI Fellows Program highlights academic inventors who have demonstrated a spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development and the welfare of society.”
Chang’s work has led to advances in areas such as solar energy, medical imaging, electronic noses, smart fabrics and other flexible, wearable electronics.
An induction ceremony for the 2020 fellows is scheduled for June 2021 in Tampa, Florida.
Chang earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Florida in 1999.
