The academy aims to help STEM faculty from underrepresented backgrounds move into leadership roles at colleges and universities and is part of the Aspire Alliance’s Institutional Change Initiative led by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities and the University of Georgia.

Backed by the National Science Foundation, the Aspire Alliance (formally known as the National Alliance for Inclusive & Diverse STEM Faculty works across post-secondary institutions to develop institutional cultures that foster diversity and inclusivity. The academy provides professional development for academic leaders from mid-career professionals from underrepresented groups.
