The U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board have named 15 students and recent graduates of Oregon State University semi-finalists for the 2022-2023 Fulbright  U.S. Student Program.

Twenty-one current or former OSU students submitted Fulbright applications with assistance from OSU’s National and Global Scholarships Advising office, meaning 71% of those who submitted applications were named semi-finalists. That represents the highest percentage success rate since the office was created in 2015.

“Our students come from many different backgrounds and academic disciplines, making them excellent ambassadors of the United States, OSU, and the Fulbright program,” said LeAnn Adam, OSU National and Global Scholarships advising coordinator. “These semi-finalists have shown incredible creativity and persistence through the pandemic: many of them are reapplicants from last year when fewer scholars were able to travel abroad.”

Final selection of U.S. Student Fulbright awards will be confirmed this spring.  Recipients of the awards are selected in an open, merit-based competition that considers leadership potential, academic and/or professional achievement, and record of service.
