Oregon State Board of Trustees to meet Jan. 15 and 16

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University Board of Trustees will meet Jan. 15 and 16 to consider election of board officers and discuss a preliminary budget and tuition scenarios for the 2027 fiscal year.  

The board is scheduled to meet from 1:30 to 4:50 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Memorial Union Horizon Room. The Finance and Administration Committee and Academic Strategies Committee are scheduled to meet from 8 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Horizon Room. 

On Jan. 15 in the Horizon Room, the Executive, Audit and Governance Committee will meet from 3 to 4:10 p.m. and a joint meeting of the Executive, Audit and Governance and Finance and Administration Committees will take place from 4:20 to 4:35 p.m. Additionally, the board will hold a retreat primarily focused on training from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 15. 

On Jan. 15 and 16, board committees will: 

  • Discuss the preliminary fiscal year 2027 budget and tuition scenarios. 

  • Hear briefings on enterprise risk management, artificial intelligence and research and innovation. 

  • Consider approval of two new degree programs: a master's degree in business analytics and a master’s degree in information systems.  

On Jan. 16, the board will consider advancing two capital projects to the construction phase: The Field Sports Building and the Sinnhuber Aquatic Research Laboratory modernization project. The Field Sports Building will provide training, wellness and support spaces for softball, men’s and women’s soccer, cross country and track and field. The laboratory project is partially funded by a $7.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health and will renovate the facility to support zebrafish research.

The public comment period for the Jan. 16 meeting of the full board is scheduled to begin at 4:20 p.m. This is a change. The public comment period was previously held in the morning. 

There will also be a public comment period before the board votes on action items listed on the full board agenda. Public comment can be made in person, via Zoom or provided in writing at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting to trustees@oregonstate.edu. More detailed instructions are available here.  

The retreat on Jan. 15 is focused on training, which will not include deliberation towards any decision or the making of any decision. The portion of the retreat that is open to the public is a presentation on university communications on matters of public affairs, which members of the public may view beginning at 11:15 a.m. via Zoom or by calling 1-888-475-4499 (Meeting ID 996 3525 8347).
