Oregon State University will celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, recognizing achievements by women within Oregon State and globally, and highlighting continuing efforts to ensure gender equality throughout higher education, the workplace and society.

President Jayathi Y. Murthy and Provost Edward Feser will co-host a reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m., March 8, in the Memorial Union Lounge.

The event will include guest speakers, OSU Distinguished Professor Margaret Burnett, founder of The GenderMag Project, and Andrea Ballinger, vice provost for university information and technology. Both will provide comments related to the United Nations 2023 theme for International Women’s Day: “DigitAll: Innovation and technology for gender equality.”

A celebration station recognizing International Women’s Day will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8 in the Student Experience Center Plaza, hosted by ASOSU Women & Gender and International and Cultural Coordinators. The event includes games, a hot cocoa bar and donuts, tables with Oregon State resources advancing the causes of women on campus, in the U.S. and around the world, and a space for envisioning feminist futures.

The International Women’s Day webpage provides additional details and a list of events being held throughout the year at OSU recognizing women and their achievements.
