Oregon State presents lecture by renowned China scholar Andrew Nathan on April 29

CORVALLIS, Ore. — One of the world’s leading scholars on China, Andrew J. Nathan, is delivering a free remote lecture on Chinese political strategy as part of an Oregon State University event at noon on Thursday, April 29.

In his lecture, “China’s Strategic Vision: Implications for the U.S. and Taiwan,” Nathan, who holds the position of Class of 1919 professor of political science at Columbia University, will draw on his expertise in Chinese politics, foreign policy, human rights and political culture.

Nathan’s research, which focuses on Chinese foreign policy and sources of political legitimacy in Asia, has been published in many international journals. He has written and co-written 20 books relating to Chinese and broader Asian politics, and serves as chair of the steering committee of the Center for the Study of Human Rights and chair of the Morningside Institutional Review Board at Columbia.

The lecture is being hosted by OSU’s College of Liberal Arts; School of Public Policy; School of History, Philosophy and Religion; Asian studies program; and the Chiu Program for Taiwan Studies, with financial support from the Chun and Jane Chiu Family Foundation.
