CORVALLIS, Ore. – Anita Azarenko, who has served more than 30 years in a wide range of leadership roles at Oregon State University, has been named interim vice provost for the Division of University Outreach and Engagement and director of the OSU Extension Service, OSU Provost and Executive Vice President Ed Feser announced Friday.
This new appointment becomes effective July 7. Azarenko will replace Scott Reed, who will retire from OSU on July 31.
“Anita’s impressive leadership experience in OSU academic and administrative units makes her uniquely qualified to lead the university’s efforts to provide all Oregonians and their communities with localized engagement services and education programs offered through OSU Extension and 4-H,” Feser said.
Azarenko has led the Department of Horticulture in the College of Agricultural Sciences; served as associate dean for the Graduate School; and worked as a special assistant to the vice president for finance and administration.
For the past three years, Azarenko has served as OSU’s associate vice president for university facilities, infrastructure and operations. She has been responsible for the maintenance, operations, renovations and construction of all OSU facilities and grounds. She also led the implementation of Oregon State’s 10-year capital forecast and annual capital improvement and renewal plans.
Azarenko will serve as interim vice provost while a national search is conducted to replace Reed.
