OSU Presidential Search Continues

Oct. 10, 2019

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State University’s 15-member presidential search committee continues to evaluate candidates for the position of university president using the Presidential Leadership Profile approved by the OSU Board of Trustees.

OSU is conducting a national search for a president to succeed Ed Ray, who has announced that he intends to step down as president in June 2020, after leading the university for 17 years.

The university has received more than 160 nominations for the positon. The search committee will meet with and interview 12 candidates in October. The committee is made up of OSU trustees, faculty, students, administrators, staff and alumni, as well as representatives from higher education and the broader community.

“We are pleased with the quality and diversity of applicants for the position,” said Darry Callahan, chair of presidential search committee and an OSU alumnus and trustee. “Candidates identified for the first round of interviews bring extensive expertise and a broad range of higher education leadership, teaching and research experience.”

An expanded group of OSU stakeholders – appointed by the chair of the university’s board of trustees – will conduct second round interviews in November before the candidates are interviewed by the members of the Board of Trustees.
