OSU Summer Choir performs Gabriel Faurés’ Requiem Aug. 18

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University Summer Choir will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, in First United Methodist Church, 1165 NW Monroe Ave.

OSU’s summer choir is an annual tradition that brings together current and former OSU students and members of the Corvallis community in a celebration of choral music. The ensemble is conducted by graduate-level music education students working under the guidance of Steven Zielke, director of choral studies at OSU.

Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem in D minor, Op. 48 is the major work on the program. The work is a 35-minute, seven-movement setting of the traditional Catholic mass. The program also includes Fauré’s “Cantique de Jean Racine,” Tom Porter’s “Lux Aeterna,” Amy Bernon’s “Oceans and Stars,” and more.
