Oregon State Board of Trustees to meet Jan. 16 and 17

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University Board of Trustees will meet Jan. 16 and 17 and discuss a preliminary budget and tuition scenarios for the 2026 fiscal year.

The board is scheduled to meet from 9:15 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. Jan 17 in the Memorial Union Horizon Room. Board committees are scheduled to meet from 8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Jan 16 in the Horizon Room.

On Jan. 16, board committees will:

Tribes of Oregon, Oregon State work together to build facility to facilitate repatriation and return of tribal cultural items and Ancestors 

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The nine federally recognized Tribes in Oregon and Oregon State University have worked together to build a university facility to facilitate the repatriation and return of tribal Ancestors and cultural items currently under the university’s stewardship.

Tribal leaders and university officials marked the transfer of Ancestors in Oregon State’s stewardship to the facility earlier this month. 

Oregon State names new finance and administration leader

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Carla Ho’a, an established leader with more than three decades of experience in higher education finance, has been named the next vice president for finance and administration at Oregon State University.

Ho’a will begin her new role Sept. 3.

“Carla Ho’a brings a broad range of leadership experience and financial acumen to this critical role and we are delighted to welcome her to OSU,” said President Jayathi Murthy.

Pacific Northwest semiconductor and mass timber industries each receive $500,000 awards from White House

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State University-led efforts focused on microfluidic technology for semiconductors and mass timber design and manufacturing each have received $500,000 awards from the White House.

In Oct. 2023, the White House, through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration, announced the designation of 31 Tech Hubs, including the two led by Oregon State.

Construction now underway on housing project to serve OSU’s Hatfield Marine Science Center

NEWPORT, Ore. – Construction is now underway on a 77-unit housing project to support students, staff, visiting scientists and others working and learning at Oregon State University’s Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport.

“We are excited to see this important project get underway,” said Bob Cowen, the center’s director and associate vice president for marine research and operations. “Housing is critical to the future of Hatfield Marine Science Center and its ability to support coastal and marine research and education opportunities.”

Executive, Audit and Governance Committee of the OSU Board of Trustees to meet June 21

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Executive, Audit and Governance Committee of the Oregon State University Board of Trustees will meet from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. June 21 to consider potential candidates to recommend for anticipated at-large vacancies on the board.

The recommendations will be forwarded to Gov. Tina Kotek for consideration.
