CORVALLIS, Ore – Auditions for Oregon State University Theatre’s fall 2019 production of “Shakespeare in Love” will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in the Withycombe main stage theatre in Withycombe Hall, 2901 SW Campus Way, Corvallis.
The play is a romantic comedy based on the 1999 film by Tom Stoppard. A young William Shakespeare is a struggling playwright suffering from a severe case of writer’s block until he meets Viola DeLesseps, the daughter of a wealthy merchant with dreams of becoming an actor.
Auditions are open to all OSU students, staff, faculty and community members. Scripts are available for check out for 24 hours from the Theatre Arts office in Withycombe 145. Those auditioning should bring their fall schedules to discuss potential conflicts.
A read-through will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 4. Rehearsals will begin Oct. 6 and will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14-15 and Nov. 22-23, and at 2 p.m. Nov. 17 and Nov. 24. Everyone in the cast must be available for all rehearsals, technical/dress rehearsals and performances.
