Music a la Carte concerts begin with Latin music, dance

CORVALLIS - Oregon State University's Music a la Carte concert series begins on Thursday, Sept. 29, at noon in the Memorial Union lounge. The free, 45-minute public concerts, a tradition at OSU since 1969, take place most Thursdays during fall, winter and spring terms.

The informal concerts showcase a wide variety of musicians and performance ensembles. Audience members are welcome to bring lunch to enjoy during the performances.

The first concert features the Craig Einhorn Trio of Eugene, performing rhythmic, classical Latin music in the Brazilian and Spanish Harlem style. Tango dancers will join the trio for part of the performance. Concert dates and performances for fall term are:

  • Sept. 29 - Craig Einhorn Trio from Eugene, classical Latin guitar music;
  • Oct. 6 - Jeffers-Carlson duo, piano duets by British composers;
  • Oct. 13 - Primal Mates, chamber jazz duo from Boulder, Colo.;
  • Oct. 20 - Laura Zaerr, harp, and Nancy Andrew, flute;
  • Oct. 27 - Darkwood Consort, unique instrumental chamber duo from Boise, Idaho;
  • Nov. 3 - OSU Chamber Choir;
  • Nov. 10 - OSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble;
  • Nov. 17 - OSU Concert Band;
  • Dec. 1 - University Chorale and Chamber Brass Ensemble.
