OSU Board of Trustees and committees to meet January 27-28

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University Board of Trustees will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28 in the Horizon Room of the Memorial Union on the university’s Corvallis campus. The Memorial Union is located at 2501 SW Jefferson Way.

This meeting is open to the public. The board will consider approval of a presidential leadership profile to be used in the recruitment and search process for OSU’s next president, and consider other action items recommended by board committees. The board also will receive updates on the university’s implementation of Strategic Plan 4.0, the establishment of an Elliott State Research Forest and the 2022 Oregon legislative session.

A public comment period will be provided at the board meeting. The public may attend the meeting in-person or may join the meeting virtually to provide comment. Commenters may register before the meeting by emailing [email protected] or may register at the meeting. There is also a public comment opportunity before the board holds votes on each action item listed on the board agenda.

Board committees will meet Thursday, Jan. 27 in the Horizon Room. The meetings are open to the public:

  • The Executive & Audit Committee will meet from 8 to 9:15 a.m. to consider the Office of Audit, Risk and Compliance’s 2021 final progress report and 2022 annual plan. The committee also will consider the university’s enterprise risk management plans and hear a report on public safety.
  • The Finance & Administration Committee will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to consider quarterly financial reports; an internal bank annual report; changes to approved budgets for capital projects related to Graf Hall, Cordley Hall and Reser Stadium West Grandstand projects; and advancements of capital projects related to Gilkey Hall, West Greenhouses and the LaSells Stewart Center. The committee will hear updates on an upper division and graduate student housing project; the Corvallis Shared Responsibility Budget Model; and budget planning and preliminary tuition scenarios for fiscal year 2023.
  • The Academic Strategies Committee will meet from 1 to 5 p.m. to consider new academic programs in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts, and expansion of programs at OSU-Cascades. The committee will discuss the university’s efforts related to interpersonal violence prevention, support and response. The committee will hear briefings on research and innovation, and OSU’s strategies regarding internationalization and global engagement.

On Jan. 28, the Board’s Executive & Audit and Finance & Administration committees will hold a joint meeting from 10 to 10:30 a.m. to consider a fiscal year 2021 external audit annual report.

Given COVID-19 guidance, the meetings will be hosted in-person, as well as through a remote conferencing service. Note that proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken not more than three days prior is required for in-person attendees. Additionally, face coverings are required to be worn during the meeting.
