Gift honors Pulitzer Prize-winning author, former Oregon State faculty member Bernard Malamud

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The family of Bernard Malamud, a former Oregon State University faculty member and one of the most influential post-World War II American Jewish writers, has made a gift supporting the university’s writing program, where Malamud developed his literary career.

Malamud taught at Oregon State from 1949 to 1961. During that time, he won his first National Book Award. He later went on to receive a second National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize.

New marine innovation and technology center at Oregon State established with $20 million gift

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A $20 million gift to the Oregon State University Foundation by alumni Judy and Mike Gaulke will create a new center to lead and support innovative research and development of technology that helps society better understand, protect and utilize the ocean and its environment.

The Gaulke Center for Marine Innovation and Technology will emphasize interdisciplinary research such as collaboration between oceanography and artificial intelligence, two areas of academic strength at Oregon State.

Donors to Oregon State University make a record-breaking 7,700 gifts totaling $2.1 million in 24 hours

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University community set a record making more than 7,700 gifts totaling over $2.1 million during Dam Proud Day, the university’s annual day of giving.

Dam Proud Day took place on April 26 and is part of OSU’s second university-wide fundraising and engagement campaign, Believe It: The Campaign for Oregon State University, which was launched in October and seeks to inspire philanthropy and engagement on behalf of OSU.

Oregon State donors make more than 6,300 gifts totaling $1.55 million in 24 hours

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Supporters of Oregon State University came together on April 27, 2022, to raise $1.55 million through more than 6,300 gifts during the university’s annual day of giving and engagement.

In just 24 hours, Oregon State alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students and others supported over 100 funds across the university. Most contributions will directly assist students.

Oregon State raises $13.8 million to create 15 new endowed faculty position funds

CORVALLIS, Ore. – In just six months, donors to Oregon State University committed $13.8 million to establish 15 new endowed faculty position funds to advance research, teaching and engagement, university leaders recently announced.

The initiative, known as the Provost’s Faculty Match Program, was a joint effort between the Office of the Provost and the OSU Foundation.

Emergency funds receive widespread support at Oregon State University

CORVALLIS, Ore. – More than 3,200 donors have given over $1.3 million to Beavers Care, a fundraising initiative serving members of the Oregon State University community who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

With a combination of federal CARES Act funding, Beavers Care gifts and other sources, OSU has provided emergency support to more than 5,100 students, faculty and staff since the public health crisis began.
